Carrie's Some Hearts Certified Triple Platinum!

Underwood Honored at Triple-Platinum Celebration

Evening sun through the skylit roof of Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum set the beautiful tone for an appropriately historic occasion, as Music City celebrated Carrie Underwood and the Triple-Platinum certification of her debut 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville album, "Some Hearts." Released in November, and now RIAA certified for sales of 3,000,000 units, "Some Hearts" has become the fastest Triple-Platinum female Country debut in history, with 15 of its 20 chart weeks spent at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

Speaking to a packed house inside the Hall of Fame’s Ford Theater, RCA Label Group Chairman Joe Galante noted that it takes something extraordinary to win over fans and the music industry, as he told Carrie and the audience, “As the record stayed at the top of the charts, and continued to just drive home, people began to realize that it was more than American Idol, it was the way you sang those songs in every single performance starting with the CMA performance and just going on from there - and especially last night, where you just knocked everybody down.”

Indeed, Carrie delivered a highlight of Monday’s 2006 CMT Music Awards with her performance of her record-setting, six-week #1 single, “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” The 2005 American Idol winner also became a fan-voted favorite once again - and the only multiple winner of the night - as she was honored with awards for Breakthrough Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year (both for “Jesus, Take the Wheel.”)

A video montage shown at the party offered an amazing recap of a true whirlwind year of television, interviews, and major media - from Letterman to Larry King, Macy’s Parade to the Billboard Awards and cover features from Country Weekly to Cosmo Girl.

Reflecting on Carrie’s achievements, 19 Entertainment’s Simon Fuller cheered, “I am extremely proud of Carrie and all her success. She is the fastest selling of all the Idols to date, and it’s a special pleasure for me that we achieved this by keeping true to Carrie’s country roots.”

Presented at this evening’s party with a special, 3-shaped plaque to commemorate the 3x Platinum album, Carrie (with proud mom Carole in the front row) enthused, “I think the only word really that I can say is, ‘Wow!’” Sharing the credit, she said, “To me, I’m just the decoration to the songs … and it took so much more to make a successful album, to put everything together so perfectly. You guys are making my dreams come true, and in turn, I will always be grateful.”
